Award Winning Website Design Software

FrontPage? and DreamWeaver? are both great pieces of software but they were NOT designed with Internet Marketers in mind. XSITEPRO was, which is why it has rapidly become the web site development tool of choice for Internet Marketers who are serious about running a profitable online business.

During every stage of the development process we had the Internet Marketer in mind, which is why the software is packed to the brim with features that are designed especially to make your life easier and to maximize the chance of online success.

Whether you are a complete newbie to Internet Marketing or a long-established online entrepreneur you will find that XSITEPRO will:

* Cut your development time down massively (what previously took days and weeks will take hours and minutes)

* Allow you to do things that were previously only possible by employing costly programmers and web development staff, which means that you control your web site and not the techies.

* Let you concentrate on building your online business rather than allowing untold hours to be soaked up developing web sites.

* Take away the frustration of web site development so that running your online business becomes a pleasure rather than a chore.

* Put tools at your disposal which will allow you to take your new or existing business to the next level of success.

* Make it easy to keep your web sites up-to-date so that they don’t end up becoming cobwebs (i.e. like the vast majority of Internet Marketing web sites that are rarely if ever updated because it is just too much trouble using conventional tools)

XSITEPRO is amazingly versatile

It can help you create almost any kind of site imaginable. It doesn’t matter whether you want to create a simple one page sales letter, a complex affiliate site or a thousand page Google AdSense site. XSitePro is more than up to the job.

Another huge plus point is that with XSitePro you can create an infinite number of sites so you don’t need to rely on a single site for your income. You can quickly and easily create multiple streams of income or multiple sites that all feed into your main site - the choice is yours.

But, please don’t just take our word for it …

Since it was launched back in Spring of 2005 XSITEPRO has received thousands of amazing testimonials from satisfied users, many of whom had previously used other leading web development applications such as Dreamweaver, FrontPage and GoLive.

XSITEPRO is the best in its class, hands down! That’s a big claim and I can back it up by telling you that I also use Dreamweaver, I’ve used Frontpage and many others. There is nothing to compare with the sheer logic behind the site building process. I am currently working on a site with over 700 pages. It’s a massive project for me and without XSitePro it would become unworkable. The speed and power of your updates are unbelievable and I stand in awe at your programming skills. I already have the best but it just keeps getting better. Thanks for having your finger on the pulse Paul.” Pete Lauder http://www.homebizassistant.com/

“I just wanted you to know that I am already floored by this software! Yesterday, I printed out the tutorial and the manual and created a nice XSitePro binder for myself. I started going through the tutorial and am about 3/4 of the way through. I was amazed with every single step at how detailed the tutorial is… and I was even more amazed at the power of XSitePro and its simplicity at the same time. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve created my own sites by hand… hand-coding, creating manual site-maps, etc. I can’t even tell you how many websites I started to build (and ultimately stopped) last year because the task of doing them all by hand was just to dauting. Well, I know that I will now be able to ‘dust off’ those idea and will very easily be able to build them with XSitePro. I have to tell you, I finally feel that being successful in affiliate marketing is more reachable now than ever before.” Patty Gale http://www.CommuteInYourJammies.com

“I have tested every single feature promised in your sales letter and XSitePro delivered them all and much more. XSitePro has taken over all the step-by-step processes of website building and made it easy to put a site together in record time! If you have many websites like me, it is no joke managing them. But with XSitePro it is a breeze, thank you Paul. If you’ve been warming the bench far too long and never seemed to get started with building an online business even though you want to but are put off by the hassles of dealing with HTML code and no technical know-how skills, you must jump right in now and get started cranking out web sites, XSitePro is an awesome piece of software and Paul is pricing it way too low at $197! I highly recommend XSitePro. Content is still king regardless of the continuous changes and updates of search engines’ algorithms. With XSitePro, you can free up more of your time to focus on supplying REAL customer focused content rich sites for your visitors. Thumbs up for top-notch software and your excellent after-sales support!” Adam Lok http://www.minisitesell.com

“As I was going through the XSitePro tutorial, I found myself thinking “WHERE was this software a few years ago when I was struggling to learn HTML?”. XSitePro is awesome! It is so EASY to use that a grade school kid (or, since kids are so computer-literate these days, perhaps I should say an 80-year old grandmother) could create beautiful websites in no time flat … without knowing one lick of HTML. And, it is so versatile … if you can “think” it, you can “do” it with XSitePro! I honestly can’t believe you were able to pack so many features into just one little piece of software. This is hands-down the BEST software of its type on the market, and I am recommending it to ALL my coaching students.” Holly Cotter http://www.PassiveProfitStreams.com

I purchased the Xsite Pro a couple of days ago and transferred my martial arts and fitness site of + 500 pages from a dynamic portal to the Xsite Pro layout. I did this job in a little over 3 days, That’s aprox. 166 pages/day. I don’t think any other website design program can do the same with such a high level of proficiency. In the first 3 days after putting the site online i saw a drop in traffic but after 3 days everything was back to normal again. 2 days later my traffic was DOUBLED !!!! Thank you Xsite Pro. Should have bought this program a lot earlier. And thank you Paul for the advise. Peter Vermeeren http://www.kamikaze-portal.com

“In the four and a half years that I have been on line I have spent well in excess of $100,000 on various software, courses, seminars, e-books, manuals, DVD’s and CD’s - often to be disappointed when a product failed to live up to it’s claims or meet my expectations. I am happy to say that XSitePro would have to be in the top 5% of everything I have bought in all that time. Plus - and this is a HUGE point - I have found their support staff to be helpful and polite. I have already promoted XSitePro to my subscribers (with a 5 Star rating) and fully intend to do so again and again. A drovers dog could build a great looking website with this!” Chris Bloor www.InstantNichePortals.com

“XSitePro is a fantastic program. I used Microsoft Frontpage for years but I like the XSitePro software the best. For those who don’t have the time to learn search engine optimization, it makes it extremely easy to get high listings in the search engines. For those who don’t know html, it creates web pages in an easy to use wysiwyg environment. For those who hate to read a manual, it comes with a great video tutorial that gets you up and going in minutes. For those of you who just want something better, it is the best!” Chris W. Sutton http://www.maui-hotel-condo.com

And these are not just a few isolated comments. We’ve received thousands of similar e-mails. You can take a look at some of the others on the Testimonials Page.

What exactly do you get when you buy XSITEPRO?

You will receive a complete package that includes everything from the software through to professionally produced documentation, and downloadable videos that take you through all the important features step-by-step.

The Software

As soon as your purchase has been processed, which usually takes less than two minutes, you will receive your registration details along with a link to download the software. This is a feature-packed full-blown application so it’s quite a sizeable download. The current version comes in at about 60 meg, including the manual and tutorial. On a typical broadband connection this will take about 15 minutes to download. If you have a dial-up connection you might want to request delivery of the software on a physical CD, which is just $10 extra.

The software is very easy to install. Just doubleclick on the installation file and the professional installer will guide you through the process and you’ll be up and running in no time.

If you have any problems downloading or installing the software the XSitePro support staff will be happy to help out so don’t worry about being left on your own - we’re here to help!

The Manual Included with your software is the 400 page XSitePro manual.

This is intended as a comprehensive reference work that you can refer to whenever you need more detail on a particular feature, so don’t think you need to read it from cover to cover. Indeed, many users find that they never have to refer to the manual, but it is there if you need it and contains lots of helpful advice to help you get the very most from the software. It also includes lots of helpful advice on Internet marketing and site building in general.

The manual includes step-by-step instructions on almost every feature in the software along with over 200 screen shots so that you can see exactly what you need to do.

“The quality of the tutorials and the manual are exceptional in terms of structure, clarity of concept and of the actual writing.” Steve Jackson

The Tutorial

Rather than leave you to figure out using this powerful application on your own we’ve put together an easy-to-follow tutorial that will take you from complete novice to your first web site in just a couple of hours. We highly recommend that you take the time to follow this tutorial as it really will help you to get up-to-speed in the shortest time possible.

“I sat down with XSitePro and after spending a few minutes going through the tutorial, I built a 40 page site in about 1? hours!” Paul Smith-Goodson

“The program is very straight forward. It takes you step-by-step teaching you all the way through the special and user friendly tutorial, I could not believe how easy a website could be put together.” Richard Barron

“I found the tutorial very easy to follow. Better than Dreamweaver. It’s written in laymens terms, not too much jargon.” Pervaiz R. Karim

The Videos

If you prefer to learn by watching rather than reading that’s not a problem at all.

As an XSitePro user you will have full access to eleven professionally produced training videos offering more than 80 minutes of visual learning.

These cover many of the key features of the software and will help you to see exactly how the software works as the presenter works through them on your screen.

The videos can be downloaded and played on your own computer or streamed directly from the Internet - whatever is easiest for you.

Here are the titles of the eleven videos.

Lesson 1: Managing Projects and Web Sites Lesson 2: Page Layout Lesson 3: Adding Web Pages Lesson 4: The Designer Lesson 5: Special Pages Lesson 6: Affiliates Lesson 7: Search Engine Optimization Lesson 8: The Other Tab, Volume 1 Lesson 9: The Other Tab, Volume 2 Lesson 10: PowerPack Features Lesson 11: Publishing

Here’s what one happy XSitePro user had to say about the video tutorials:

“The videos are immaculately produced, explained in a manner which suggests that the vocal script has been worked so that it is informative while as brief as possible and all encompassing, ideal for beginners or intermediates to recap and remind, and made in the same manner as the product itself - very close to perfect.” Roger Davis

Okay! I’m convinced

XSITEPRO really is an Internet marketers dream. It provides you with a web site development tool that lets you focus on building a profitable on-line business rather than wasting days, weeks and months pulling your hair out. Yes, it does require an investment in time to master it, but as you can see from all the many testimonials above and on the testimonials page even complete newbies can be up and running with the software in a short period of time if they follow the tutorial.

So now you have a choice. You can continue to struggle along with tools that were not really designed with Internet entrepreneurs in mind or you can invest in your future and get hold of XSitePro now.

“As I was going through the XSitePro tutorial, I found myself thinking “WHERE was this software a few years ago when I was struggling to learn HTML?”. XSitePro is awesome! It is so EASY to use that a grade school kid (or, since kids are so computer-literate these days, perhaps I should say an 80-year old grandmother) could create beautiful websites in no time flat … without knowing one lick of HTML.” Holly Cotter

About the Author

James has been in web design for 7 years and regularly reviews the best web design products on the market. XSitePro has just received this glowing reference from a man regarded as the best in website design in Australia. -

To create the best business website, you need to find a good professional web design company. The best web design companies will be knowledgeable in all the areas that make a website successful and should have a successful site or too of their own. You need to find a company with a portfolio of websites they have already designed so as to give you an idea of what they are capable of.

Once you have got a good website designed you want your visitors to stay on your website for as long as possible. The longer the visitors are on your website the more chance they are of buying something or coming back again. So the first thing you want your website to do is work properly, ie when you click on your link you site should load up fast. If your site takes more than a few seconds to load you will loose a large majority of visitors, fact! Huge pictures that take a long time to load will loose you some visitors. Many people get fed up waiting for images to load.

Another important issue is navigation. There is nothing worse than a website with poor navigation. You want the site to have a clear and consistent navigation throughout the site. Using templates it the by far the best way to achieve this. With templates every page is the same and the menu and navigation buttons are always in the same place.

Browsers are another issue. Not everyone uses Internet Explorer, although it is one of the more popular. The browser Firefox is becoming more and more popular and is used by over 20 millions people each day. So you need to make sure your website works just as well in the other Browsers. The main ones to check are Netscape Navigator, Opera, Lynx, Hot Java and Amaya. All browsers work slightly different and your pages can look completely different on each browser. There are sites where you can check the compatibility of your website on each browser.

Another important issue is that the text is easy to read. There are lots of pretty fonts but they are not practical, Arial and Verdana are the best. Font size is also important as you want your visitors to be able to read the text. Using bright colour font is a bad mistake too, in fact using bright throughout the site is a big mistake.

Any good professional website design company will know that flash presentations animations and frames are not recommended and will not use them unless the customer insists. But for a good browsing experience it is best to stay well clear of them. Another important fact to remember is that a website will look different on different screen resolutions. Not everyone will have their screen resolution set the same so one person may view it and it looks fine, another person could view it and with a different screen resolution and the site could look completely different.

All of these are just some key factors for good professional web design. Your site should be well designed which is easy to read and navigate, fast loading on any browser, pleasant to the eye without any off putting flashing images or text.

As a female, small business owner and web designer I often hear other women entrepreneurs who would like to have a web presence but haven?t a clue where to start and are intimidated by the technology and lingo. From URL, Hosting and Server to coding languages such as XHTML, PHP and ASP it sounds like a foreign language and can easily overwhelm people.

My experience and success in web design have come from not only providing great design work and customer service, but also the ability to determine the effective and practical solutions. Understandably many women avoid this form of advertising since it is a very male dominated industry. Some women feel intimidated or embarrassed because they don?t want to sound foolish or be taken advantage of. There?s nothing worse than hearing about a website solution that could have been accomplished for less money since the designer proposed an overkill solution. A practical solution should be provided, one that allows the site to grow with the owner and business? needs. Not one that is full of bells and whistles or programmed using technology meant for a different scenario.

I can say I completely understand the trepidation that anyone could feel maneuvering the advertising world especially Internet advertising. I would like to say that I want to encourage other small business owners, male and female alike to enter the Internet Advertising world. Be sure to ask a TON of questions and ask a lot of different people. From designers, programmer and providers to friends or associates who have gone through the same process. If your designer doesn?t give you an answer you are comfortable with, question them. Only the providers who are willing to help you, not overwhelm you should be the one?s you work with. Even if their solution doesn?t fit your exact needs, at least you can go onto another provider with the knowledge of what you really do need.

Tips On Finding Affordable Website Design

I have been running an affordable website design service for the past ten years, and business has never been better. When I tell my friends about it, they are surprised. A lot of people assume that, since the dot com bubble burst, it has been a tough market for website designers. In some ways, they are right. There are tens of thousands of people who can do affordable web site design, and there are more every day. It is no longer a highly specialized skill which people are willing to pay big bucks for. But, if you are willing to put in the effort, there is quite a market available.

You see, the market for affordable website design is much broader than it used to be. Back in the good old days, there were no affordable website designs. If you wanted to have a website, you had to pay the cash or learn the trade. The very idea of affordable websites design was absurd. It was like asking for affordable brain surgery. There were so few people who knew how to design a website that you had to pay them a lot of money if you wanted it done.

Nowadays, however, affordable website design is the biggest part of the industry. It is so much quicker and easier to design a website that you can not charge a lot of money for the service any more. No one will want to pay! Then again, you can do a lot more business. There are bloggers, for example, who will pay for affordable website design. They already have functioning websites, but they might want them to look a little better, or to get more hits. You can do affordable website design for local businesses. Although this kind of work does not pay what it used to, it also does not take as much effort as it used to.

The bottom line is that there are people all over the world who are looking for good affordable website design. Even though anyone can build a website nowadays, not everyone can build a good one. Good web designers are still as hard to find as ever. If you can really get results, you can get a lot of work in the field. You just need to be able to deliver! You might need more jobs to pay the bills, but you also will have more opportunity to create a niche for yourself. It really is a great time to be a web designer.

If you have done any article directory surfing, you have probably noticed all types of article directory designs. You may have run across those that are visually impressive and enjoyable to look at it. They make you stop and ask yourself the following questions: “How can I make an attractive design like that?” Then you have probably run across those site that have inflicted pain onto your eyeballs and you have probably questioned yourself, “How do I avoid that?” So many people do not understand the essential basics to creating a visually pleasing website design. Let us take a look at these four important and basic subjects of design.

Contrast

Most of us understand the concept of contrast, yet when you look at different website designs, we often see this concept ignored. Contrast needs to be highly considered when creating any type of website. Ultimately, you want the visitor to come in contact with the content and information of the website. Your visitor does not want to have to *dig* through your website to find the information for which he or she is looking. If your content is hidden, people will miss the purpose of your website and simply give up trying to find the information or article they need. Reader’s eyes want a visible and clear presentation.

To put contrast in exercise, highly and carefully consider the colors you are using for your website design. The type of contrast you are looking for is black text on a white background. While that may seem boring, it is most important that your background contrasts with your text so your text is clearly visible and seen. Another mistake you will often see is the overuse of graphics and images. Use graphics wisely! Too many graphics can clutter your website and make your content buried. A graphic-laden page does not necessarily mean it will be more visually pleasing.

Contrast is a simple and effective way to visually enhance your website. Remember, that you want to bring the content to your reader. You do not want your reader to have todig for it.

Alignment

The second concept, alignment, is also extremely vital to the website presentation. Good alignment brings about unity and order. Bad alignment brings about chaos and disorder. Knowing that we want to bring content and contextual components to our visitor, we need to present that content in an orderly fashion. The basic principle for alignment is this: do not mix alignment styles. For example, if you have left aligned text, do not create a centered heading. You want your design to flow. That brings us to our next concept, repetition.

Repetition

While providing your website visitor with clear, visible orderly content, you can also create a stronger sense of unity in the website through repetition. Repetition on a website basically means that you use the same design elements throughout the design. That means you want to use the same logo, graphics, bullets, fonts, and colors. A common misconception by amateur designers is that the more color on the page you have, the more visually pleasing it is. Experience and good judgement show that this is simply not true. Stick to four similar contrasting colors. Stay consistent with your fonts. Stay consistent with your graphics. Repetition will further the sense of the unity in your document.

Proximity

Proximity ties in with presenting easy-to-find content to your website visitor. Proximity is not a hard principle to follow and it will greatly increase your website’s readability. To follow the concept of proximity, put elements together that should be together. For example, if you are talking about a book, you do not want to have the book title at the top of the page, the author at the bottom of the page, and the publisher of the book on a completely different page. To re-emphasize, you want your visitor to find what they are looking for easily. Proximity best assists your viewers in finding exactly what they need, when they need it.

Following these basic design principles will allow you to make a sharp and attractive website. Remember, you want the content to find the visitor. You do not want the visitor to have to dig through the design to find the content that they need. When the content finds the visitor, you want it to be unified, clear, and visible. Exercise these four basic concepts, and you will have yourself a very visually pleasing design.

Website Redesign - Good or Bad Decision?

After having a website on the Internet for several years many people decide to hire a web design firm to redesign their Yahoo store website. You may think that this is a great idea, but think twice before you make such a big and costly decision. I currently own and operate 4 Yahoo websites on the Internet and had made the decision to hire one of the many Yahoo web design firms to hopefully improve my websites.

The exact opposite happened. My websites were not improved but rather turned into websites that were very difficult to manage. Please read the following points before you decide to have an outside party charge you for website redesign services. You’ll be glad you did. I hired a website design firm to redesign my Yahoo store and my page views and revenue plummeted! That’s right… we lost over 100,000 page views in the first month alone after the new design was published!

Remember - Yahoo is a billion dollar company and they have spent millions of dollars designing web store platforms that operate very efficiently. Yahoo stores load fast. They are very easy to manage and give their users many options to change the design.

What design firms don’t tell you is that they are going to disable many of the useful features that Yahoo offers on a standard Yahoo web store. What does this mean to you? It means that every time you want to make a simple change to your newly designed website you are going to have to pay the designer to make the changes for you. Why? Because website redesign firms make complicated changes on the back-end of your store making it almost impossible for the average user to understand. That benefits the redesign firm because they know that you will have to pay them to make simple changes that you were once able to do easily on your original Yahoo store site.

Website redesign firms like to give their customers a fancy beautiful site that is very impressive to look at. The only problem is… websites that are fancy are websites that take a very long time to load. Don’t make this mistake! Don’t think that a website that is fancy is a website that your customers will want to use. In fact, it’s just the opposite. Remember that almost 80% off all Internet users still surf the web using a slow 56K modem connected to a phone line. Turning your fast loading Yahoo store into a redesigned website can quadruple your page load times and drive away your customers. Case in point - before we redesigned our Yahoo store it had page load times of about 15 seconds per page which is generally acceptable to anyone using a 56K modem. Most people are willing to wait 15 seconds for a page to load but they are not willing to wait 50 seconds or more - so what do your valued customers do? They drop out of your website before the page even loads! And you just lost a customer that will never return.

Always keep in mind - FAST loading websites are better than fancy websites! Website redesign firms add dozens of unnecessary objects, images and fancy scripts to your pages that only add to your websites load times and this can be a recipe for disaster. Sure, the new design looks great, but your customers using a 56K modem will leave the page before it loads! Website redesign firms use high speed connections while designing your new store so they rarely see the increase in page load times. But remember - most Internet users DO NOT have an expensive high speed connection to the Internet, so the page that loads in 8 seconds on a high speed connection can take 45 seconds to load on a standard 56K modem.

As stated earlier, many standard features of your yahoo store might be disabled by your redesign firm. Features such as final text, icons, insets, abstract and many other features may be disabled at your designer’s discretion. You may think that because you are not an expert at store design that it is a good idea to spend thousands of dollars on a website redesign by an outside firm. What you must realize is that after your new expensive design is completed, you will have to be an expert just to figure out what features are working and what features are not. Because the html code we used in our final text was not quite compatible with our designers new templates, they just disabled final text so it was no longer available to us. Guess what? Final text is a powerful tool in your website. Disabling final text only makes it harder for you to make simple changes to your once easy to operate website.

It took us many months to find out what was working and what was not working properly on our new site design and it drove us crazy. If you’re not an expert (and most people are not) then you might never figure out what changes your designer made to your new website that are effecting it adversely.

The moral of the story should be clear. A Yahoo store is a fast loading Ferrari with excellent features. By choosing to redesign your store using a website redesign firm your are running the risk of turning your Ferrari into a Model T.

I hope this article helps you to make an informed decision as to whether to change your website using a design firm. If you decide to do so… be careful, and make sure that you are aware of the risks.

The trick of having a good website is thinking about the visitors first and foremost. So, before you spend money on designers there are a few things that you should take into account first. You should first of all clarify who would be your target audience and why you are creating a website. What would be the content used in the website and what do you want to achieve with this website are the questions that need to be answered.

The next step would be thinking about your visitor. That is why the design of your site must be simple as well as consistent. There are always problems in compatibility with different browsers. So, always check your site with at least Internet Explore and Mozilla Firefox. Also, pay attention to the time your site takes to load. No one has spare time to waste and if it takes too long a time, you can be certain that no one give your site a visit the second time. The navigation systems of your site must be simple and easy. And always remember to add fresh content to your site.

The main page or home page of your site should be used as a sales letter. That is why it should have a sales message and this message must have heading that is keyword rich. The Secret To Great Website Design

Great website design is the result of careful thought and planning. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner creating your first website or if you are an experienced webmaster and it doesn’t matter if you build your website using a simple program like notepad or a WYSIWYG HTML editor like Dreamweaver - what makes the difference is your plan. You decide what to include on your website and how to present it. If you spend time thinking about your website’s design before you start building it you will create an excellent site that visitors will return to again and again.

Your website has to be quick to load, nice to look at, easy to use and navigate. People will remember if your website was full of useful information or if it was a jumbled maze full of pop-ups, pop-unders and flashing gifs that they could not make any sense out of. Keep this in mind as you create your website.

The Golden Rule of Website Design

So you might ask “How do I design my website?” The answer is to focus your website on solving a problem. People are on the internet to find answers - create your website to meet that need. Find a niche and provide high-quality, unique content people are looking for.

You can make your website a huge success by focusing on solving users’ problems. Take Google for example - their website is an extremely simple, clean design that contains their logo and a box for you to enter what you are searching for - nothing on the webpage distracts the user from the solution they offer. When you visit google’s website there is no question who they are and what they do. They are focused on quickly providing the visitor with relevant search results. That is why they have one of the most successful websites ever created.

All other elements of website design are secondary to filling the visitor’s need. They will simply click away to the next website looking for a solution if you can’t help them.

What is the problem that you have the solution for? For instance: Do you have the secret to making money on the internet? Can you teach someone how to housebreak a pet? Decide what solutions you can offer and then write them down. This is your mission statement. Keep this list handy and refer to it often as you design your website so you don’t get sidetracked. Users’ needs are not necessarily hard to fulfill but one website can not solve all users’ problems, so don’t try to. Focus on the solution you offer the user and concentrate on how to deliver it. Meeting expectations

Now that you’ve figured out what you can offer your users you have to focus on delivering that solution. People looking for answers want them now! Studies have shown that you only have a few seconds to get a visitor’s attention and hold it before they click away - don’t waste any time. Tell the user what you have to offer right away. Don’t use intro pages that take too long to load. People want to get to your content and you should remove anything that gets between the user and the information. Guide them to their goal with as few “clicks” as possible. Plan to succeed

Many people get frustrated when they try to build a website simply because they don’t do any planning. If you jump in and start writing HTML with no plan you may find yourself lost and so will your visitors. Before you start up your computer get out a pencil and some paper. Create a diagram that illustrates how your website will be layed out.

Build your website one page at a time focusing on one topic per page. As you add new content expand your website diagram adding new pages in a logical order. This will make it much easier for you to build your site and for visitors to find their way around. If you follow a plan you will avoid leading viewers to blank pages, dead links or having them run in circles trying to navigate your website.

Don’t worry if you think your website is not perfect. No website is ever totally finished. You should always be fine-tuning and updating your content. Website construction is an ongoing process. Build - review - add new content - repeat.

When someone visits your site, do they know what they are looking at?

Too often we distract the user from the primary purpose of visiting the site by all the clutter in design and secondary offers that are presented. Put your primary offering or service first and put the focus on that.

Great examples of such sites that do this are

http://www.google.com (search engine) When you visit google, they are a search engine. What to you see when you get there? A search box and not much more….

http://www.cm-recruiting.com (a recruiting site) When you visit CM, they present you with just 3 choices, info about them, the jobs they are offering, and a way to contact them.

http://www.4leafdesigns.com/templates/scabies/ (an info site) When you visit this information site, you find everything you are looking for immediately. The links to more information on the subject are clear and easily found.

Will it look the same to everyone?

Most website designers have a favorite browser they use to check the site design as they build it. There are subtle differences between the many browsers, but when built to W3C standards, website’s will look the same no matter what platform the user is using.

Check your work for CSS compliancy at http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ Check your work for HTML compliancy at http://validator.w3.org/

SEO will be much easier if your site is built to these standards, a bonus for the extra effort. Typically those sites that rank high on the search engines are W3C compliant.

How Fast?

Strange question to those of us who design sites, but not to those who visit. More often than not, the designers of sites have high speed access, but not all of your visitors. While we feel we are the majority, we are not. How often have you visited a site just to wait, and wait, for the content to load? Consider the users experience. If you are offering a service to a sector that does not need high speed connections, they probably don’t have it.

If your web page does not load in 10 seconds you are going to loose 80% of those who visit. Speed is important.

Check your speed at http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/

When considering speed, web graphics play the largest role in increased webpage size. Try using small background images that will repeat whenever possible.

A good example of a website that uses background images and loads quickly is http://www.4leafdesigns.com

Follow their example of use of images and W3C compliancy and you should have a nice clean site that others will enjoy.

Search Engine Optimization Strategy: Website Design Techniques for Search Engine Ranking Improvement

It is a must for you all to know, how do search engines work. Search engines are not human and they dont scan the pages as we do. They are just robots, which work on the codes and mechanism implied upon them. If you have a small business website and are trying to close sales on a single visit from a customer, it is advisable that you dont make a rich media enhancements like flash animation and excessive graphics, which result in slow page loading time and makes people run away. Established players or business, which are concerned on spreading awareness about their business rather that selling a single standoff product usually uses high media enhancements.

Proper website design is the key to a higher search engine ranking. Before you begin to construct your website, take the time and consider the design elements those are essential to both the viewer and the search engines. This will also contribute in determining the ranking of your website. Design your web site so that every page contains title, description, and keyword meta-tags. These tags are the basic road map for the search engines. When a search engine enters your web site these tags prepare the spider for what to look for on your web page. They prompt the search engine for what words you feel are important and to use them in the ranking process.

The layout of your web site becomes significant to higher search engine ranking. Placement of text in the optimal positions on your website becomes paramount, so if the search engine ignores the meta-tags which many are starting to do because of abuse and spamming then text placement will become the first impression that search engine robots would read.

Spiders of the search engines crawl on the web page and index your website. You have to be very clear about your requirements. Keep all your content optimized for all the major search engines. Though all have almost a similar mechanism, you can even learn about how all search engines work, and then design your web content in accordance. For example, Google has a specific set of rules, which it uses to index web pages. It can be learnt from Google itself and you can put your content with the specified guidelines. This is a time consuming process but as you know: “No Frill Without Drill”. You can also hire specific companies that can optimize your website to specific search engines.

Viola! You have achieved your dream of learning some key aspects of Internet marketing.

W3C Web Design - Understanding W3 Compliant Website Design

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) was established in order to develop a set of pre-defined practice standards for the internet. The W3C acknowledge that, in order for the web to reach its full potential that the fundamental web technologies need to be compatible with each other and with any hardware or software used to access the internet.

W3C is comprised of member organizations and companies whose staff is engaged for the purpose of working together to develop standards. The W3C has written more than ninety standards, known as W3C recommendations, which can be viewed as an overall design philosophy as well as a strictly-defined set of practices for building websites. W3C have produced standards which govern all the most fundamental elements of website design including, recommendations for markup languages (HTML, XHTML, SVG and XForms), style sheets (CSS), JavaScript and for the Document Object Model.

Conforming to W3C standards confers benefits for you, the developer and also for your end users. Of the benefits, enhanced website accessibility is probably the most important. A compliant website will be more visible to search engines, thereby increasing site traffic. In addition, compliant websites enhance accessibility for the end user. Clients who use non-traditional browsers, including voice browsers and Braille browsers, or hand-held browsers with very little monitor space, are easily catered for when W3C compliant coding is used.

Writing web pages in a manner congruent with the W3C standards means that your development time will be reduced. The processes of debugging and trouble-shooting become easier because the code is written in a standard fashion. Further, your W3C compliant documents will be easily convertible to other formats, including databases and word documents. Migration of compliant documents to new systems, such as televisions and PDAs is also much simpler when code is W3C compliant.

Stability is also improved when your code is W3C compliant. The W3C standards are written with considerable thought to both forwards and backwards compatibility, to ensure that data written to old standards will continue to work in newer browsers, and that data written to newer versions will produce an acceptable result in older browsers. If your code is compliant, you won?t have to worry about creating many versions of the one code to ensure that everyone can view your developed page.

W3C compliant coding ensures universality. The standards offer a set of rules that all developers can learn, follow and utilize. It would be unrealistic to expect that only one designer will be involved in the development and maintenance of a website. If standards-compliant coding is used, each developer will be easily able to understand the coding conventions, and new designers can pick up where their predecessors left off.

Adoption of the W3C compliant coding by web developers will ensure the web is a more streamlined, functional place for developers and end users. As the variety of web access methods increases, the need to adjust or duplicate websites to satisfy all needs will also intensify. Following a set of pre-defined standards is a step towards solving this problem.

Great Hotel Marketing Starts with Hotel Website Design

You may have the most wonderful hotel in the world, with gorgeous landscaping, comfortable rooms, and impeccable service, but if guests don’t know about it, your occupancy rates will be a continual disappointment. In this day and age, the most critical component of hotel marketing is great hotel website design.

Why Hotel Website Design?

The numbers say it all. During 2007, almost a third of all hotel revenues will be generated by online channels. Moreover, over half of your target audience’s decision-making is influenced by the Internet. Over a third of hotel guests choose their hotel based on online research, but book through another channel. The remainder researched their choices through an Internet portal, but then tried to book directly with the travel provider.

Without great hotel web site design, it’s as if you printed 1,000 beautiful, four-color, ten-page brochures that stunningly captured the unique nature of your hotel at ten dollars apiece, and then locked them away in a cupboard. How effective would they be? The “look and feel” is vitally important in motivating visitors to explore your hotel product, and in guiding them to buy, but without the right technology, site structure, and navigation methods, you will only have marginal online revenues.

Hotel Search Engine Optimization

Even if you have a wonderful hotel web site design, if no one can find your website when they are searching online for that “luxury San Diego hotel,” that “romantic B&B outside Paris,” or that “adventure scuba holiday in the Maldives,” it’s as though you didn’t have a website at all.

The way that potential guests will find your hotel web site is through search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is both an art and a science - and shouldn’t be left to amateurs. Search engine optimization techniques will enable your hotel website to be returned high in the rankings of search engine results - a critical element of effective online hotel marketing.

Factors to Consider

When choosing a marketing company for your hotel website design, make sure that they understand and meet these goals:

* Generating qualified, quality visitor traffic
* Motivating visitors to delve deeper into your hotel website
* Converting visitors into online hotel revenues

Too often, hotel websites are developed in reverse, placing the emphasis on design rather than on generating website traffic. The key is to balance traffic generation effectiveness, the site’s “look and feel,” and conversion techniques to produce a hotel web site that looks great, gets plenty of traffic that converts into bookings.

Find a Hotel Website Design Company

Today, Internet design and marketing companies have specializations. In order to get the best return on investment, it’s best to choose a website design company that specializes in hotel website design. Make sure that their approach adheres to the following guidelines - otherwise, keep shopping. The company should:

* Identify your visitors’ expectations and intentions
* Work with you to clarify your own objectives
* Develop a hotel website revenue conversion strategy
* Determine site components that satisfy both design and search engine optimization goals
* Map our “click paths” that will lead to conversion

Your hotel website design and search engine optimization are the two keys to generating the kind of traffic that will keep your occupancy rates in the stratosphere!

Designing a website may not seem like the easiest of tasks, but with the help of some new web building conveniences that have entered the market in the past few years it is possible to create a professional website for your business with only a small investment of your time and money. In fact, with the advent of greater choice in web design such as ready-made website templates, logos and other corporate necessities, you can build a website in three easy steps.

Step One: Plan Ahead

Before you delve into the world of web design and start looking for a suitable template, it?s important to plan ahead. You need to clearly define your company?s objectives beforehand so that the design selection process goes more quickly and you choose the right template.

For instance, who is your target audience? You must know your customer inside and out in order to choose the best site design for bringing in business. For instance, if most of your business comes from corporations and professionals you will need to choose a template that caters to that group of people ? one that gives the right first impression and shows you are a serious business that can handle top-notch clients. In this case, a simple, efficient design will be your top preference. If, however, you are building an ecommerce website selling a range of goods, a template that can be customized for online shopping will probably be your design of choice. Perhaps you require a more ?flashy? website? Flash templates are also an option and suit many different types of websites that rely on more than just text and a logo to make money.

Ensure that the template you eventually purchase is easy to customize and update. That?s the whole point of buying a template in the first place ? to make both the building of the website and its maintenance stress-free, affordable and fast. You will need to add your own content to the template and work with the overall theme once it is downloaded. Also, most businesses will want to add fresh content, site updates, links etc. as time goes by so keep this in mind when searching for that perfect template. If you plan to incorporate interactive features into your site, such as forms and chat areas, the template you choose should be able to handle this as well.

Step Two: Choose a Template

Now that you are prepared, you can begin shopping for a website template that will work best for your business. Start by researching the many website template companies on the market that offer professional designs for reasonable prices ($20-$40). Most companies offer the choice between copyrighted and non-copyrighted material as well, so if you want to be the only one using the template design spend a little more money to receive exclusive usage. One such website template company I found that offers reasonably priced templates is http://templatedogma.com/. Once you purchase a copyrighted template it is taken off the market. If you don?t find a template that fits your business precisely, investigate which companies offer to design custom-made templates for your usage. This will cost more but prices are kept lower than hiring a designer and the results are just as good ? if not better.

When you find the right template after reviewing the available designs, the rest is simple. All you have to do is purchase the template and download it to your hard drive in seconds.

Step Three: Customize

With the template all ready to go, all you have to do is add your own content, graphics, images ? anything you need to make the site your own. If you can use a simple editor such as DreamWeaver or FrontPage, this can be done in a few days or less. If you are inexperienced when it comes to any aspect of web design you can hire someone to do the editing for you for a very small fee ? much smaller than what you would pay a designer to create the whole site from scratch.

When adding content, if you only require a few simple words, consider writing the text yourself. If you need a lot more information, such as product descriptions, articles or sales content, consider hiring a writer to create unique, high-quality content. Because you saved so much money purchasing a ready-made website template, you can spend a little more hiring a great writer! If you write the material on your own, remember to keep it short. Keep paragraphs short and don?t bog the reader down with unnecessary information. People are in a hurry and don?t want to spend a lot of time reading pages and pages of writing. Let your visitors get the information they need so they can move on and buy your product or service, but also make sure the information you provide is actually helpful and written without grammar or spelling mistakes.

The overall design should be kept simple, but that doesn?t mean you can?t add graphics, pictures or even video. As long as you keep it uncomplicated visitors will not regret visiting your site and learning more about your business. Not everyone has high-speed Internet yet, so fast loading pages are still a consideration.

Other additions include tables, forms and quizzes. Tables specifically are an easy way to organize text on a web page and they load very quickly. Most HTML editors make it easy to generate tables on your website.

Website templates have brought web design out of its infancy and into the 21st century, catering to the unique needs of the online business owner, so don?t be afraid to take advantage of the convenience ? you won?t regret the decision.

Eight Common Web Mistakes that Website Designers Make when Designing

Whether or not you are a designer or would-be designer, do pay attention to these mistakes. They are what distinguish the professional from the amateur. They will also help or hinder your website?s placements on search engine listings. And, they will determine whether or not your visitors stay for a time at or leave - never to return - your website.

MISTAKE #1: Huge graphic files, along with too many graphics. These are the culprits that slow the downloading of a website. Resize the images and lower the resolutions before uploading to the website. Visitors have no patience for waiting to see your website.

MISTAKE #2: Confusing navigation. If visitors and/or the search engine spiders (that visit and index your website) can?t easily find their way around your website, they will leave as fast as a click of the mouse. I love using roll-over buttons, but also realize that for the spiders I need to post text-based links - usually at the bottom of the pages.

MISTAKE #3: The lack of a unique title for each and every page. I have a search-engine-guru friend who stresses the fact that so many pages lack this important feature. Without a title, your website pages will have little or no chance of showing up in the major search engines. When we include keywords in our titles, we increase our chances of top listings. These are super important because no one will find your website just because you have built it.

MISTAKE #4: The use of ?Mystery Meat.? Vincent Flanders and Dean Peters in their Web Pages that Suck books compare websites that are confusing - you don’t know what they are about or where they are going - to mystery meat (meat disguised by gravy, etc.). Be obvious - most users are not into guessing what it’s all about. They may surmise that we don’t know either.

MISTAKE #5: Using Flash Intros for the home or landing pages. Even though these can be quite clever and design-rich, most web-surfers I know and talk with, hate them. They take time to load and often produce confusion and ?mystery meat.? It is more expedient to use content that introduces you and/or your website to your visitor.

MISTAKE #6: No or little attention to the use of keywords. It used to be that we would load our meta tags with keywords and a description of what our website was all about. We should still do this, but most of the search engines don?t rely on these today. It is imperative that we use the important keywords throughout our website?s content.

MISTAKE #7: Adding animation for effect. In the beginning, everyone thought this was fun and cute. Maybe for a youngster?s website if used cleverly. But, animation gets old fast. It is like having a blinking neon sign outside your motel room?s window.

MISTAKE #8: Not using alt tags. Alt tags describe your graphics. They are especially for those visitors who have either turned off the graphics or who are using a reader program for the visually or aurally impaired. I find them to also be helpful in describing an object you want your visitors to click on.

If you avoid these eight MISTAKES, you will have a good start to a successful website.

You’ve written a book and want to promote it. You’re starting a new business and want to attract new customers. You have an established business and wish to retain current patrons and tap into the growing world of Internet commerce. You need a website, but you have no idea how to design or maintain one.

There is no shame in admitting that you need assistance with website design and development. True, you may feel behind the times when middle school children are launching sites with ease, but remember that not all websites are the same, and not all websites are designed for the same purpose. The flashy, graphics-intensive look of a personal site may not suit the needs of a business, while a catalog site with extensive programming may be too much for what is essentially an online calling card.

The first important step toward building an online presence is to know what your website needs to do for you and your products. With the proper guidance of a competent, efficient website designer, you can achieve the perfect look and functionality for your brand.

But, with so many website design companies in business, how do you know which one is the right one to work for you?

As with choosing any service provider, a number of factors should be taken into consideration before hiring somebody to create your online headquarters. With dedicated research, you can find the perfect fit. Here are just a few things to look for when scouting potential web designers:

Web Presence

What does the website of the design company look like? Does it load quickly, and is the design attractive and effective? Is it simple to navigate? Is it loaded with ads, or is there relevant content available?

Check to see if there is an available portfolio of clients, and visit those sites as well. You may need to do some personal evaluation to determine if a particular client has a website appropriate for its purpose, or if it looks like it has been overdone with unnecessary bells and whistles. Contact a few clients and inquire about their relationships with their designers.

Check also for an About Us section with information on the company and its employees. What professional qualifications are included? How long has the company been in business? Is there a rate card available on site? Not every company will publish hard numbers, as custom design can vary according to a client’s needs, but one good thing to look for is a base minimum price set by the company. This will help you determine if the company is too high-end for your budget.

Customer Service

Does the company’s website have easy to find contact information? How quickly do they respond to an e-mail or phone query? Test the possibility of a few design companies with a general query, then make note of the timeliness and personable qualities of each reply. Are some e-mails more like form letters? If you are interested in maintain a constant, personal relationship with your website designers, you may want to consider the ease with which you can contact them. While an immediate automated response might not indicate the company is too busy to contact you, prolonged neglect should answer your question.

When you meet with potential firms, take into consideration their interest in you. Are they genuinely interested in your project, or does it seem like they want to sell you more functionality and services you neither need nor want? Website design companies offer different services like hosting, online marketing, and ongoing maintenance, so naturally it is in the best interest of such a company to promote these services. As you do your research, you may find you need some extras, but don’t feel pressured into anything you are certain you don’t need. Inquire about custom pricing for combination packages, and test the company’s flexibility. You will know if they truly want to aid your vision or are just interested in the sale.

Location

Where is the company located? Are they local or within the state? If you are interested in maintain close contact with a website designer, it would be recommended to find one you can visit if needed. Scout local website firms and note their locations. Does the company have an office, or is it a sole proprietorship operated out of a private home? Will the designer meet with you personally when you wish? What kind of equipment is used in design? Are employees in-house, or do they depend upon third party freelance work? If you are looking for immediacy in design and maintenance, this may be a deciding factor.

With so many potential companies to design your website, it may seem like a daunting take to whittle the choices down to one. Yet, with diligent research and a knack for personal intuition, you can find the proper designer to create your online presence and foster your brand.
